2011 in brief

20 December 2011

AUTHOR:Kevin Birch

2011 has been an exciting year for Birch Surveyors. Natalia will be graduating this month with a degree in Surveying with Distinction, and is now working fulltime for us. Jonathan has been accepted into Survey School and will be starting fulltime studies next year. Carl has now become licensed by the Survey Board and was awarded a meritorious prize for the best set of projects submitted to the Admissions panel. And Sarah is now completing her first year of a midwifery course. Steve has welcomed a new baby into his family, and next January will see an addition to Carl’s family.

On the business front we are about to launch a fresh new updated website, which should be live by Christmas. 2011 has seen our staff actively involved in seeking resolutions to the Rural Plan Change through mediated discussions. In particular we are fighting to retain provisions which protect and enhance remnant bush and wetlands. Early 2012 will see this resolved through Environment Court hearings.

As this will be the last of my article for the year, I wish everyone all the best for the Christmas break and the New Year. I trust my articles have proved informative for those interested in the issues. All of our articles are available through this website, and you can view them by year by selecting the year in the dropdown box. I look forward to keeping you informed of current issues during 2012, and thank all our clients for their patronage during the year.
