Oxfam Trailwalker

In mid 2013 it was suggested that a few staff members might like to take on the Oxfam Trailwalker in Taupo.
After a bit of searching Carl, Kelly, Tim and finally Brett put their hands up to give it a go and decided to call themselves the "19th Century Surveyors".
The Oxfam Trailwalker is a 100km walk which must be completed within 36 hours and takes place over farmlands, mountain bike tracks and alongside the beautiful Lake Taupo..

The guys were also joined at the event by another member of our staff Connie, along with her mum Liz (and director of BSL), her sister Sarah (wife of Kelly and ex BSL employee), and their good friend Seara who were aptly named "Me & My Girls".

After a few months of training the day finally dawned on their big walk.  The girls started at 6am, while the boys enjoyed a small amount more sleep and started at 7am.  Shaking off a few nerves and "what ifs" the walk was underway.

Unfortunately for the guys, Carl had to withdraw from the event at the 67km checkpoint due to a knee injury.
19th Century Surveyors completed the event in 29 hours & 4 mintues and raised $3010 for Oxfam.
Me & My Girls completed the event in 30 hours & 11 mintues and raised $5310 for Oxfam.
