Birch Surveyors were engaged by Auckland Council to design a new stormwater pipe system along Victoria Street, in an established urban area of Pukekohe.  The new pipe system was to service existing and potential future development, along with providing drainage for Victoria Street.

A detailed topographic survey of the work area was undertaken to locate existing services and to obtain levels required for design.

The pipeline was located, in places within private property boundaries which meant Right of Entry approvals were needed from the numerous owners, including Housing New Zealand.  Birch Surveyors designed the pipe system including detailed stormwater calculations, obtained design approval from Council, and negotiated with and obtained written approval of all of the affected owners.

We then let the tenders and managed the construction contract, observing the works to ensure the appropriate quality and safety standards were met.  As-built surveys were completed, and As-built data was supplied to Council.

Overall the team enjoyed this at times challenging engineering project, working within a tight budget yet maintaining the highest quality standards for the client.
